Alive

Once I have finished writing a record I love inviting the creativity to continue.

As with my first record Libellus, the way that I achieve this is by collaborating with artists from all different mediums: animation, dance, jewellery, painting, sculpture, photography, video…

 So once I have recorded a song I find an artist/friend who I feel would respond well to it and then stand back as they run free creating whatever they wish in response to the music.

It is an amazing experience, especially as a solo artist when so much of the creative process is solitary to then reach out to other creatives is something I really love and this freedom is one of the elements of being and independent artist that is fantastic.

Then again as with Libellus, I have tied the whole project together by writing the story behind these collaborations and creating a book.  A really personal narrative about the stories behind the songs and also the artists who I love and have invited to share this creative process with.

And so this is how ALIVE, my second album, began….
